Join the Rebel Spirit: Volunteer for the Gender Rebels Committee

Gender Rebels is a volunteer-driven organisation dedicated to supporting the transgender, non-binary, and intersex community in Cork city. We are looking for passionate individuals to join our operational committee to lead our daily mission of building a more inclusive and accepting society.

Why Volunteer with Us?

Volunteering is about more than just giving time; it is about creating a future where our community thrives.

  • Make a Real Impact: Directly support the welfare and education of the trans community in Cork.
  • Build Community: Join a network of like-minded rebels committed to equality and solidarity.
  • Professional Growth: Gain experience in governance, communication, and community development within an Irish Company Limited by Guarantee (CLG).

Our Structure: Committee Vs. Board

It is important to understand how we work together to keep Gender Rebels moving forward:

  • The Board of Directors: Responsible for the high-level legal and financial governance of the company.
  • The Committee: The operational heart of the organisation. You focus on day-to-day operations, community building, and direct outreach. Each role acts as a vital liaison to the Board to ensure our actions align with our legal mission.

Available Committee Roles

All roles are strictly voluntary and unpaid, in accordance with our Constitution.

Chairperson

Acts as the primary liaison between the committee and the Board. You lead daily operations such as our popular Trans+ Hangout events and accessible Peer-Support group – while also presiding over meetings to ensure our volunteer efforts stay focused on our mission.

Secretary

The administrative backbone. You manage correspondence, keep accurate records of our decisions (minutes), and ensure our volunteer group stays organised and connected.

Treasurer

The guardian of our resources. You oversee daily financial tracking, ensuring every donation is used solely for the community’s benefit and reporting back to the Board.

Communications Officer

The voice of our community. You manage social media, emails, and information outreach to keep the trans community informed and to cultivate wider public understanding.

Inclusion & Welfare Officer

The community builder. You liaison closely with local and national supports that focus on the delivery of support, promoting health and wellness, and creating safe spaces for our members to flourish.

How to Apply

We invite you to put yourself forward at our upcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM) being held in the Turners Cross Community Centre at 7pm on March 18th.
